The project “Entrepreneurship and Community cooperatives” (EntCoM) aims at fostering active citizenship and entrepreneurship (considering social entrepreneurship) in small or remote areas, and at recognizing and training Rural Community Cooperative Facilitators (CCF).
A bottom-up approach engaging the community of migrants.
Recognizing the key role of (CSO) as instruments through which populations and individuals are connected for carrying on adult education activities of general interest for the community (1), the Portuguese partner practiced a panoply of tools to further CSO’s capabilities in the field of Community Cooperative Facilitation. CSOs plays an increasingly important part in sustainable economic growth considering the general interest as well as specific needs of communities, comprising social innovation, aiming at improving the conditions of living of populations globally, and more specifically the community of recently incoming migrants. Indeed, CSO carry out activities that answer to the needs that local populations consider a priority, and in particular the ones that the public or private historical providers fail to deliver. The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) position paper (1) clearly states the need to “enhance coordination between DG HOME, DG EMPL, DG SANCO, health and education professionals and civil society organisations working with undocumented migrants through regular consultations.”
